Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Teacher training is a critical factor influencing educational outcomes, particularly in rural areas where schools often face challenges related to the quality of teaching staff. In Shendam Local Government Area (LGA), Plateau State, various teacher training programs have been implemented with the goal of improving teaching effectiveness, enhancing pedagogical skills, and improving student learning outcomes. These programs aim to address the skills gap that exists due to inadequate training and unqualified teachers in many schools.
In the context of Shendam, where educational challenges such as high dropout rates and poor academic performance persist, this study seeks to explore the impact of teacher training programs on improving educational outcomes. 1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite several teacher training programs, schools in Shendam continue to struggle with poor educational outcomes. Limitations may include difficulties in measuring the direct impact of training on students' performance due to the influence of other factors such as family background and school infrastructure.
